Update: 2008 Christmas Pageant rescheduled for Jan. 4

Following last Sunday’s cancellation of worship due to the weather, the annual Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield Christmas Pageant has been rescheduled for Sunday, January 4. Children in the pageant should arrive no later than 9:00 a.m. to change into their costumes. Also, if your child is in the pageant and you can’t make it to this service, please contact Pastor Harman or call the church office at 413-734-9268.

(It was decided that the Pageant would not be on Christmas Eve because many families will be traveling and not all kids will be able to be at Grace.)

Christmas Smorg at Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield

The annual Christmas Smorg at Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. The event is a covered dish supper.

If you have a favorite recipe that is a tradition if your family at Christmas, we encourage you to share it with us — all culinary varieties are welcome!

Share the gift of spiritual music this Christmas season and help feed those in need in our community.

Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield’s own Back Row Band, widely acclaimed as the best Lutheran church band in the Pioneer Valley, has released its brand-new Christmas Album, “Christmas Grace.”

All proceeds from the album will benefit the Parish Cupboard of West Springfield, an organization dedicated to feeding the hungry in the greater West Springfield, Mass. area. The album is available for sale at:

Cookie Exchange at Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield

This year’s Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield Cookie Exchange will be held in Jung Hall this Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at approximately 10:30 a.m., following the Sunday morning worship service. To participate:

  • Bake four (4) dozen cookies. If you choose to bake more than one type of cookie, please feel free to do so, but please make four dozen of each type of cookie.
  • Bring a tin or box to put your cookies in to take home.

We hope to see you there!

‘Sundays in America’ author visits Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield

More than two dozen people crammed into the parlor at Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield recently to meet with author Suzanne Strempek Shea and discuss her most recent book, “Sundays in America: A Yearlong Road Trip in Search of Christian Faith“. The book is centered around the author’s experiences and observations while attending 52 different churches during the course of a year.

Strempek Shea was a very entertaining speaker and there was much laughter as she talked about her experiences prior to and during the year when she visited all kinds of churches all over the country, graciously answering all questions.

Some of the attendees were not members of Grace, but had seen the articles about the discussion in the newspapers, inviting everyone to come. All who attended had a wonderful time.

30th Annual Holiday Fair at Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield

The 30th Annual Holiday Fair will take place this Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield.

Taking place frim 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the event will feature a holiday auction of NEW donated items, baked good and candy for sale, a holiday lunch and fun for all. All proceeds will go toward the missions of Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield.

Volunteers willing to help set up and clean up as well as donate items or bake good for the event are always welcome. Those interested may contact the church office at contact@gracelutheranonline.com.
