On Saturday, June 26, 2010, a team of volunteers from Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield will help with the ongoing construction of a home located at 19 Gunn Square in Springfield.

The group will meet at the church (on Rt. 20) at 8:00 a.m. and then travel to Gunn Square for an 8:30 a.m. start. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

With funding assistance for the build provided by the Western Massachusetts chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield has already pledged $1,000 toward this year’s build, raised from the church’s June rummage sale.

If you are interested in learning more about this volunteer opportunity (which is a great way for first-time Habitat for Humanity volunteers to get involved), email Martha, Grace’s Habitat for Humanity congregational liaison.

Join the Operation Sonshine team this weekend

The next day to support Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield’s mission with Operation Sonshine at the Springfield Rescue Mission is this Satuday, June 19, 2010. The team arrives at 10:00 a.m., makes sandwiches, packs up the van and travels to deliver the lunches to several locations in the greater Springfield community. The mission is usually complete by 2:00 p.m. To participate in this unique experience, contact Victoria at 789-1242.

Join the 2010-11 church council
