About Pastor Harman:
Derek Harman joined Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield as his first call in ordained ministry. He spent his youth overseas in Trinidad in the Caribbean and Geneva, Switzerland. After years of living in Seattle and making his living as a social worker with adults with developmental disabilities, he pursued his Masters of Divinity at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California. Completing his internship year near Hannover, Germany, he graduated from PLTS in January 2007 and received his first call to ministry from Grace Lutheran Church in West Springfield, Mass.

Whether you’re a member or just checking out our site, welcome! At Grace we strive to offer an open and friendly atmosphere in which to delve into what it means to be a Christian in today’s world.
This is a great time to be a part of Grace Lutheran Church. In early 2009 we completed a visioning process through which we have developed our strategic goals for the next several years as well as a new mission statement, “Faith in Action,” and a series of guiding values and vision statements. All of this work has been embraced by the congregation as our new mission and direction as we strive to live out the good news that Jesus Christ brings to us in so many ways.
The people of Grace Lutheran Church are already living their “Faith in Action” mission by supporting local food pantries (The Parish Cupboard), working together to provide affordable housing (Thrivent Builds), coming together to study God’s word and going abroad to experience our understanding of faith and culture in new ways (German Evangelische Kirchentag) among other things.
You can learn about what Grace is doing by surfing through the pages of this website and I encourage you to check it out. We are learning, growing, and open to the work of the spirit in our communal life!
As we move forward in learning to love all of creation as we experience that love through Jesus Christ, we welcome you to join us as our journey unfolds!
