Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield is helping to sponsor a building project for Habitat for Humanity. The building is located at 133 Daniels Ave., in Pittsfield, Mass., with major funding provided by the Western Massachusetts chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The building is a condominium two-story duplex. Taconic High School vocational classes are also participating in the project, which is tentatively schedule for completion by December, if not earlier.
To help sponsor the project, Grace Lutheran has committed to raising $1,000 and volunteering for two work Saturdays with a crew of six or more people. The first work event will take place Saturday, Aug. 2 and the job involves indoor painting. The second work event will take place Aug. 16 and the job involves indoor finish work and landscaping.
Members of the Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield community as well as the community at large are welcome to participate. Volunteers will meet in the Friendly’s parking lot by the turnpike entrance in Westfield at 8 a.m. both days to car pool up to Pittsfield. Lunch and water will be provided.
