The next monthly book discussion at Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield, originally scheduled to take place Sunday, April 19, has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. in the church parlor. The featured book will be “The Book Thief” written by Marcus Zusak.
The story, which takes place in Germany during and after World War II, centers on main character Liesel Meminger. Liesel is a nine-year-old girl in foster care who develops a passion for reading after she steals her first book at her brother’s place of burial. The tale is narrated by Death, a collector of souls, who doesn’t enjoy the job appointed to him.
The book is a story of courage, friendship, love, survival, death and grief. It can be obtained by calling the reference desk at your local library; be sure to ask them to get it through the lending library system if they don’t have it on their shelves.
It’s not too late to plan to attend the discussion! All are welcome. For more information, call Carolyn at 739-0790.
