Below is a special message from Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield facilities director Mike Clark:
Two years ago, Grace began an effort to purchase and implement new energy-efficient technology. We replaced our boiler with a new high-efficiency unit, we installed new air conditioners, and upgraded most of our lighting with new fixtures and bulbs.
That leaves us with one project left — or actually, 31 — new windows to complete our energy-efficiency program. We were originally set to replace 28 windows, but three were overlooked: two in the bathrooms, and the one in the boiler room.
The total cost of all 31 windows is $11,904.00, or $384.00 per window. If you would like to buy a window, that would be great. If you can’t afford an entire window, we welcome all contributions, large and small.
So far, we have reached our goal of raising a 50% deposit so we can place the order for the windows. Through July 13, $6,957.00 has been donated. But we have a ways to go to raise the remainder, $4,947.00, in order to pay for the balance.
Let’s hope next winter is warmer inside, as well as out.
