CROP Walk taking place Sunday, April 10, 2011

All are invited to participate in this year’s CROP Walk, which will be held at Mittineague/First United Methodist Church, 800 Amostown Rd., Sunday, April 10, 2011. Registration will take place at 12:00 noon, and the walk and other events starting at 1:00 p.m. CROP Walk initiatives like this one help children and families worldwide — including right here in the U.S. — to have food for today, while building for a better tomorrow.

The 2009 CROP Walk will take place this weekend, and Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield will host the event for churches in the towns of West Springfield and Agawam, Massachusetts.

The walk takes place Sunday, May 17, 2009; registration begins at 12:00 noon and the walk starts at 1:00 p.m. Come out to make a donation to help the fight against worldwide poverty or simply support those who are participating in the walk. Continue reading

Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield to host 2009 CROP Walk

Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield is proud to announce that it will be the host church for the 2009 CROP Walk involving churches in West Springfield and Agawam.

The event, taking place Sunday, May 17, 2009, will seek to raise money to help Church World Service, a cooperative ministry of 35 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican denominations that provides sustainable self-help and development, disaster relief and refugee assistance in some 80 countries, focusing specifically on local and global grassroots, hunger-fighting efforts (CROP stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty).  

All those in the surrounding communities are encourage to participate by signing up sponsors who will support your participation in the walk.  This year CROP walks across the country will share more than $3.7 million with food banks, pantries, community gardens and other local efforts nationwide.
