Congratulations to 2013 scholarship recipients

Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield is pleased to announce the two recipients of its 2013 Education Fund scholarships, both of whom are members of Grace continuing their education.

Rebecca (Becca) Hardy will be starting her third year at Springfield College. Becca is studying Physical therapy. Upon completion of her six-year program, she aspires to work either at Shriners’ Hospital or for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The recipient of Grace’s second scholarship is Jamie Newhouse. Jamie is entering her sophomore year at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Jamie is studying Architecture in a four year program. Jamie is hoping to continue on to a master’s degree and has the goal of attaining an architect’s license.

Both girls have worked for Grace in the as Sunday school teachers. Both have run the Summer Sunday school program, Becca before starting college and Jamie the past two years. Their contributions to the church through their ministry to the children, has been a blessing to the church. Watching our church young people grow up with a strong commitment to God and a heart of service to others we are happy to be a part of helping them share that blessing with the world.

Congratulations to 2012 scholarship recipients

Grace Lutheran Church West Springfield is pleased to congratulate the recipients of its 2012 scholarship awards.

During a ceremony Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, scholarship awards were presented to congregation members and students Jamie Newhouse and Rebecca Hardy.

Rebecca, daughter of Kim and Alan Hardy, is a 2011 graduate of Westfield High School. She will be entering her second year at AIC in Springfield this fall, studying physical therapy. Jamie, a 2012 graduate of West Springfield High School, is the daughter of Diana and Todd Newhouse. Jamie will to heading to Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston to study architecture.

Both Girls have been active in the Sunday school program, first as students then as teachers. Last summer Rebecca ran the Summer Sunday program that served a combined group representing all ages of students. Jamie filled that position this year, working with the children to explore the importance of water and tend a vegetable garden.
